About SEAL Minnesota Program Data

The following page provides information on the SEAL Minnesota Program, Minnesota’s school sealant program. The Minnesota Department of Health’s Oral Health Program administers the program, providing competitive awards to licensed oral health providers that deliver dental sealants to children enrolled in Minnesota public schools.

SEAL Minnesota is Minnesota’s school sealant program. Currently funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and administered by the Minnesota Department of Health’s Oral Health Program (OHP). The OHP offers competitive awards to licensed Minnesota oral health providers that deliver oral health services including dental sealant placement to children enrolled in high-need public schools. High-need schools for the purposes of this program are defined as elementary or middle schools with a physical location (1) in a rural area (defined by rural urban commuting area-zip code), and/or (2) in a Dental Health Professional Shortage Area, and/or (3) has 50% or greater student free/reduced price meal program eligibility (a measure of the concentration of low-income households in a school environment).
