Source: Minnesota Department of Education, Student Enrollment Data for Special Populations: Free and Reduced Price Lunch Eligibility.
The data represents students enrolled in kindergarten (KG) through grade 12 Minnesota public schools that are eligible for the free and reduced price lunch (FRPL) program. FRPL eligibility is an alternative measure or indicator of the percentage of children within public schools from lower income households. The indicator helps to assess need or identify vulnerable populations for public health programs.
Estimates by state, county, and school district may include students enrolled in special education, juvenile corrections, mental health and chemical dependency programs, alternative learning centers, and online programs (i.e., programs within schools). Students enrolled in these programs within schools are not included in estimates by specific public schools.
